John Carr; Business Connectors win United for Families volunteer awards
Port St. Lucie - United for Families hosted its Volunteer and Sustainer Meet-n-Greet Thursday, October 18, and recognized several community supporters.
John Carr, owner of JRC Consulting Group, was recognized as the 2012 Volunteer of the Year for his role in establishing and coordinating what has become the annual Golf Tournament to Stop the Tears. The event is now in its third year and has doubled its profit since taking off in 2011.
United for Families' Volunteer Group of the Year was awarded to The Business Connectors, a networking membership that meets in several groups throughout Martin and St. Lucie counties and in Jupiter.
The group, founded by Tami Karol, of Tami Karol Insurance, exclusively supports United for Families and its mission to break the cycle of child abuse. It coordinates quarterly donations drives on behalf of United for Families clients, and many of its members volunteer on various United for Families committees.
The group most recently wrapped up a school supplies drive, and is now preparing to collect gifts for the upcoming holiday season.
United for Families also recognized Penny Morin, for her work in bringing volunteers to the agency and helping with its outreach efforts, and Ildiko Haidacher as Volunteer Networker of the Year. Ildiko frequently fills in for United for Families staff at community networking functions.
