United for Families names Alyson Posey Case Manager of the Quarter

Port St. Lucie Alyson Posey, a dependency case manager in Martin County, was awarded the United for Families Case Manager of the Quarter Award during a community training about adolescent brain development September 18.

Posey, who won the award once before in 2010, said she was surprised to be honored a second time.

“It’s always a good feeling to be recognized for your dedication and hard work in this field,” she said. “The one thing I like best about my job is changing a family’s future into something more positive.”

Posey was nominated by her peers and received a $250 bonus. She is now in the running for the 2013 Case Manager of the Year Award, which will be announced March 2, 2013, at United for Families’ Le Bal Masque ~ in the Black Forest.

She joins Brian Razin, a dependency case manager in St. Lucie County, and Caryn Toole, of Indian River County, as those who will be recognized during Le Bal Masque.

“Alyson has successfully worked many difficult cases and done an excellent job.  She respects families and always works toward the best interest of the children.  Our community is lucky to have such a fine case manager,” said Christine Demetriades, CEO of United for Families.

United for Families is the community based care agency that coordinates and oversees child-welfare services in St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River and Okeechobee counties. Posey’s employer, Children’s Home Society, is part of United for Families’ network of providers and provides case-management services in Martin, Indian River and Okeechobee counties.

United for Families created the award as a way to recognize and better support the efforts of dependency case managers, who coordinate services for children in the dependency court system. The award has become the centerpiece of United for Families’ program to train and retain quality social workers and stabilize the child-welfare system for children.
